Keys

Keys shows which keys your playlists, Collections and Sets hold, and lets you open the tracks in any of them. It answers “what do I have in 8A?” without a filter: tick the sources, read the counts, click a key.

It works on the library you imported on the Library page, so import a collection first. A track’s key here is its Beatport key (or the one you typed yourself); Rekordbox’s own key is never used. A track with neither counts as No Beatport key. See Clean to match tracks on Beatport.

Choosing what to count

The list on the left is Sources. It starts on your whole library. Tick any playlists, Collections or Sets to count only those; a track that is in several of them is counted once. CuePoint remembers your choice for next time.

Reading the counts

  • The wheel. The 24 keys as two rings, minor (A) inside and major (B) outside, each with its track count written on it. The darker a key, the more tracks it holds.
  • The list. The same counts in Camelot order (1A, 1B, 2A, and so on), with a bar for each. No Beatport key and its count have a line of their own.

Every count is written on the page; nothing waits for you to hover.

Opening the tracks

Click a key on the wheel or in the list. The page scrolls to the tracks in that key, which appear in a table below, with the same buttons above it as the Library. Select a track to see it in Track details, or double-click it to play it.

  • Ctrl+Click (Cmd+Click on a Mac) adds a key to the choice or takes it away.
  • Shift+Click chooses every key between the last one you clicked and this one.

Show keys that mix with 8A lights the keys that go with the one you chose: the same number one step either way, and the relative key.

Open in Library shows the same tracks on the Library page, with the same key and source filters. Save as Smart Collection… saves them as a Smart Collection that stays up to date.

From the Library, the Key list’s See these on the Keys page opens Keys with the playlist or Collection you are looking at ticked, along with any playlists, Collections or Sets named by an In playlist filter. It is not offered on a Smart Collection, whose filters, not a place, decide its tracks.

When there is nothing to show

  • Before your first import, Keys asks you to import your Rekordbox collection.
  • If none of the tracks in your sources has a Beatport key, Keys says so and offers Match tracks…, which opens Clean.
  • A playlist, Collection or Set with no tracks says it is empty.
  • No Beatport key is dimmed, with a note, when every track in your sources has a key.
